A Traumatic Dog Attack
On December 11th, I experienced one of the most traumatic events in my life. I had my left hand attacked and bitten by a dog. I was outside waiting for the owner to get the dog and all of a sudden, the dog attacked my hand and it started bleeding like crazy. It turns out I had 5 bites from the dog and couldn't look at my bleeding hand while neighbors came over to help. The event was scarier than my swollen injury. I could not even look at it and I eventually became traumatized from the experience.
The next day, I was extremely stressed and tired. I slept for most of the day and could not stop thinking about trauma and sadness. An hour later, I had a seizure from so much stress from the event and became more tired. I kept putting ice on my hand and taking ibuprofen. My left hand was so much bigger than my right hand and swelling kept continuing. I kept thinking to myself, I did not deserve this or to suffer through so much trauma. Every time I texted, sent an email, put gloves on, or anything with my left hand, it hurt like hell.
On December 14th, my hand still kept feeling like hell, so I went to urgent care. I reported the traumatic event and went into the back office. A PA checked out my hand and said I have to go on antibiotics for 10 days and get an x ray taken care of on my hand. The x ray technician took a look and said I did not have anything sprained or fractured, only swollen. I hate going on antibiotics and the side effects are awful, but it's better than getting any possible infections. Luckily, the dog had all his shots, but I have to still take the pills anyway.
The antibiotics kept increasing stress and trauma. They made me dizzy and not concentrate well that I fell down the stairs and hit my head. I could not even go boxing because of this event. Although trauma kept getting to me, I still stayed strong and took care of myself to maintain good health. This is why I wanted to write a piece about why it is important to never give up and stay brave. The outcome of doing these things will surprise you.
The good news is I will never see the dog again because he is a complete idiot, and the owner promised he will not let that dog near me ever again. I am safe and being protected against anything the monster may have given my hand. The other good news is I am a right-handed person, but two hands work better than just one. Every day I am healing and making sure to take my medicine until December 24 (Christmas Eve). I finally had a happy and trauma free day today. Hopefully I will be happier, go back to boxing, and my left hand will recover 100% soon. I'm staying brave and not giving up, even if I had to go through this traumatic event.
